March 11, 2026 – Dasmariñas, Cavite

The National College of Science and Technology (NCST) successfully conducted a Bloodletting Activity as part of its continuing commitment to community service and humanitarian outreach. The activity was spearheaded by Ms. Roxanne Serrano, Head of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Department, with the support of the NCST ROTC Unit and the 1st AFP (NCST) Educational and Training Battalion, Reserve.

The initiative aimed to promote volunteerism and encourage members of the NCST community to contribute to saving lives through blood donation. Students, faculty members, staff, and reservists actively participated in the activity, reflecting the institution’s culture of compassion, service, and civic responsibility.

The blood donation drive was conducted in partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross and several medical institutions, including Tanza Specialists Medical Center, De La Salle University Medical Center, Emilio Aguinaldo College Medical Center, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, and Philippine General Hospital. These partner institutions ensured the safe and efficient collection of blood donations that will support patients requiring transfusions and emergency medical care.

The activity recorded a significant number of donors collected by each partner institution:

Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) – 100 donors
Tanza Specialists Medical Center (TSMC) – 79 donors
De La Salle University Medical Center (DLSUMC) – 127 donors
Emilio Aguinaldo College Medical Center (EACMC) – 88 donors
Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) – 140 donors
Philippine General Hospital (PGH) – 126 donors

The strong participation demonstrates the willingness of the NCST community to extend support beyond the campus and contribute to national healthcare needs. Each donation collected during the activity represents hope and life for patients who rely on blood transfusions for medical treatments, surgeries, and emergency care.

Members of the NCST ROTC Unit and the 1st AFP (NCST) Educational and Training Battalion, Reserve played a vital role in the successful implementation of the activity. The ROTC cadets assisted in registration, crowd management, donor assistance, and logistical coordination to ensure that the entire process was organized, safe, and efficient for all participants and medical partners.

Beyond the immediate goal of collecting blood, the activity also served as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and the critical role it plays in sustaining the country’s healthcare system. By participating in the bloodletting activity, members of the NCST community demonstrated solidarity with patients and families who depend on blood donations for survival and recovery.

This initiative further strengthens NCST’s partnership with hospitals and humanitarian organizations, reinforcing the institution’s dedication to programs that benefit not only the campus but also the broader community. Such collaborations highlight the value of collective action in addressing real-world needs and promoting a culture of service.

Through initiatives like this, NCST continues to uphold its mission of producing socially responsible individuals committed to service and nation-building. The bloodletting activity stands as a testament to the dedication of the NCST community in shaping students into true NCST Nation Builders—individuals who lead with compassion, responsibility, and a commitment to making a positive impact in society.
