The National College of Science and Technology (NCST) continues to strengthen its commitment to experiential and industry-based education as 150 third-year Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students participate in a specialized Onboard Training Program with 2GO Travel from March 10 to 14, 2026.

The training voyage will travel to Iloilo City, Bacolod City, and Cagayan de Oro City, allowing students to experience real-world hospitality operations aboard a commercial passenger vessel.

Real-World Hospitality Training at Sea

The onboard training program is designed to provide hands-on industry exposure, allowing students to apply their classroom knowledge in a live hospitality and service environment. During the voyage, students undergo practical training in key hospitality departments including:

Front Desk Operations – Guest assistance, check-in procedures, customer service management, and passenger relations.

Dining Service Operations – Table service, food and beverage service procedures, and dining area management.

Housekeeping Operations – Cabin preparation, cleanliness standards, room service coordination, and hospitality sanitation protocols.

Through these practical activities, students gain valuable operational skills and professional discipline essential in the hospitality, tourism, and cruise industries.

Academic Supervision and Support

The training activity is supervised by the NCST Hospitality Management faculty, ensuring proper guidance, safety, and the achievement of the program’s learning objectives.

The participating faculty members include Richard Lumandas – Instructor, Christine Joy Dequina – Program Chair for Hospitality Management, and Bernadette Molina – School Nurse, who provides health and medical support throughout the training voyage.

The activity is headed by Dr. Kirk P. Manalo, College Dean, who oversees the academic implementation of the program and ensures that the training aligns with the institution’s standards for experiential learning and professional development.

Advancing Experiential Learning at NCST

This initiative highlights NCST’s commitment to providing immersive and industry-relevant learning experiences that prepare students for real-world hospitality careers. By partnering with 2GO Travel, students gain exposure to actual hospitality operations in a maritime setting, strengthening their competence in service excellence, guest relations, and operational management.

The onboard training program further reinforces the institution’s mission of producing globally competitive hospitality professionals equipped with the skills, discipline, and experience needed in the dynamic hospitality and tourism industry.
